Jon was born  June 21, 1963, and raised in Long Beach, California.  Though he did not grow up in a Christian home, he came to appreciate the Scriptures and yearn for God.  He graduated from Jordan High School in Long Beach in 1981.  His next step was to join the Air Force; he was stationed in Minot, North Dakota.

This is where his life took a dramatic turn.  Jon decided it was time to get serious about his relationship with God and he began to investigate the Christian faith.  He visited many denominational churches, but was left unsatisfied with these experiences.  He finally went to worship services at the Minot Church of Christ and began to study the Bible with an elder named Dan Ziegler.  After these studies and viewing the Jule Miller filmstrips, he made the decision to obey the Gospel on August 15, 1984.  Shortly after his conversion, he said, "Why don't I just do this all the way?" and he made plans to attend Southern California School of Evangelism (SCSE) as soon as he completed his commitment to the Air Force.  He began his training at SCSE in August of 1987 and graduated in 1989.

On March 18, 1989, Jon married Rhazzle at the Norwalk Church of Christ. They have two children, Luc, 20, and Miomi, 18.  Jon preached for the Norwalk church for 3 years and then moved to Lake Isabella where he preached for the Mt. Mesa Church of Christ for 10 years.  Their next move was to New Mexico, serving the Gallup Church of Christ for 5 years.  Jon has been at the Upland Church of Christ since 2005.  Luc graduated from SCSE in 2010.  Both Luc and Miomi are attending Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga.  Rhazzle and the kids are black belts in Tae Kwon Do and Rhazzle runs a Karate school in Ontario.  Jon has been teaching part time at SCSE for 4 years.  He also enjoys playing basketball and participates in both a church league and a city league
